PROCESS OF FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT
The Central Banking Finance and Accounting Cadres"s Traning School was established in 1963 and then renamed as Hanoi University of Finance and Accounting in 1976. Its major function was to train and to do research, to supply under and post graduate levels cadres in finace and accouting for Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
In 2001, the Academy of Finance (AOF) was established pursuant to Decision No 120/2001/QDD-TTg dated August 17th, 2001 of the Prime Minister by intergrating Hanoi University of Finance and Accouting, Institute of Financial Research and Finance Cadres Training Centre. AOF"s headquarter and training centres are located in Hanoi and managed by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education and Training.
AOF"s function is to train under and post graduate, to do scientific reseach, to train management skill in finance and accouting business administration financial English and finance-accouting Informatics with various forms of training: regular and in-service university, the second diploma university, perfecting under and post graduate knowledge.
AOF has 720 staffs in which there are 390 leturers, 54 researchers, 23 professors and associate professors, over 80 doctors, 191 masters, 21 emeritus teachers. AOF annually average increases 10% in training scope. In 2007 - 2008 school year, AOF trained over 18.000 students.
Over the last 45 years, AOF trained 150 doctors, over 600 masters and nearly 62.000 bachelors of economics for financial sector and the country. Among them there are many people who have been taking important positions of Communist Party, State, Ministries, branches and localities.
AOF has been awarded many noble rewards by Communist Party and State, such as: First, Second and Third-class Independence Order First, Second and Third-class Labour Order Friendship Order of Laos.
In 2007, the project "AOF innovation and development to 2010 and 2015 orientation" was ratifled by the Ministry of Finance, with the aim of building and developing AOF to become the leading centre for training and doing research in finance-economic and accouting with high reputation in Vietnam and the region to fulfil the mission "Supplying high quality training and scientific reseach products for society".
