KEYNOTE SPEAKERS’ SHORT BIOGRAPHIES

International Conference on “Sustainable Economic Development and Business Management in the Context of Globalization”, (SEDBM-7).

1. Professor Grantley Taylor

Professor Grantley Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science (honours) from the University of Adelaide, a Bachelor of Economics from University of New England, and a PhD in accounting from Curtin University. From 1990 to 2003, he worked in the mining industry where he was in charge of multi-million-dollar exploration and advanced resource projects. From 2003 to 2006, he worked in the Energy and Resources sector at the Australian Taxation Office. In 2006, he joined Curtin University where he conducts research in the areas of international tax avoidance, sustainability, governance, and capital markets. He is currently a co-disciplined lead in accounting. He has recently published in the Journal of Corporate Finance, Review of Accounting Studies and has a recent acceptance in Management Science.


Professor Grantley Taylor is a faculty member at Curtin Business School (CBS) in Australia. His research interests include accounting as applied to the extractive industry, taxation, corporate governance, financial instruments, capital markets, and corporate social responsibility. He has a range of potential honours projects and HDR projects available in such areas as: corporate taxation, corporate social responsibility, capital markets, corporate governance, financial reporting, and disclosure as applied to Australia, the U.S., China, and the GCC.

2. PhD. Nga (Alice) Nguyen Pham

Nga (Alice) Nguyen Pham: Alice Nguyen is a Marketing lecturer at the University of the West of Scotland, UK. She successfully defended her PhD in Marketing Management at Middlesex University London. Before joining the University of the West of Scotland, Alice Nguyen was a lecturer at Middlesex University London, a teaching assistant at Manchester Metropolitan University, an external advisor at the University of Sheffield, and a teaching assistant at Queen Mary University London. She is currently also an associate of the UK Higher Education Academy. Alice Nguyen’s main research areas include consumer behavior, corporate social responsibility, sustainable production and consumption. She is also interested in research on consumer skepticism, the sharing economy, corporate digital responsibility, and service marketing.

3. Assoc. Prof. Maggie Xiaowen Gao

Assoc. Prof. Maggie Xiaowen GaoAccounting and Finance at Greenwich Business School of University of Greenwich.
- Senior lecturer at University of Greenwich
- She teaches on modules in Accounting, Finance and Economics at the University and internationally in China and Vietnam.
- She currently is an external examiner for the University of Surrey and the University of Southampton.
- Programme leader for (TNE)MSc Finance and Investment and (TNE)BA Accounting and Finance
- Xiaowen’s research interests include SME and entrepreneur finance; crowdfunding and the circular economy; trust and mutual fund performance; corporate governance and firm value; e-commerce and emerging markets.
