Nearly 4,000 new students from Class 61 continue to carry forward and build upon the 60-year tradition of establishment and development at the Academy of Finance

On the morning of September 30th, at the main campus located at 58 Le Van Hien Street, Duc Thang, Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi, the Academy of Finance held a solemn Opening Ceremony for its regular undergraduate program CQ61 and awarded commendations to high-achieving new students admitted in 2023 (2 valedictorians and 17 students with outstanding achievements in the IELTS certification). As part of the program, the Academy entered into collaborative agreements with MISA Corporation, Vietcombank, and received sponsorship for various activities and student scholarships, totaling over VND 2 billion.

Participating in the program from the business and partner side were notable figures, including Mr. Le Hoang Tung - Deputy CEO of Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade (Vietcombank), Ms. Dinh Thi Thuy - CEO of MISA Corporation, Mr. Le Huy Hoang - Director of Vietcombank, Thanh Xuan Branch, Mr. Tran Minh Hung - Deputy Director of Vietcombank, Thang Long Branch, Mr. Pham Ngoc Thanh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Taseco Corporation, an alumnus of Class 32, Ms. Phan Thi Ha - Founder and Chairwoman of HR Companion, Ms. Pham Xuan Hong Hanh - Responsible for Education Partnerships at ACCA Vietnam.

From the side of the Academy of Finance, the event was attended by: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Co - Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Academy,  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung - Chairman of the Council of the Academy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Thi Thuy - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Academy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Thieu - Vice President and Chairman of the Academy's Labor Union, Dr. Nguyen Van Binh - Vice President of the Academy. Faculty members and teachers within the Party Committee Executive Board, the Council of the Academy, leaders of departments, committees, and students from the regular undergraduate program of Class 61.

During the Opening Ceremony speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Co, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Academy, on behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors, warmly welcomed the delegates and new students of CQ61. He expressed joy in welcoming the new students to the shared home of the Academy of Finance and affirmed the student's wise choice to join the academy. He emphasized that the academy is a place that "provides high-quality training and scientific research in finance, business administration, and accounting for society," with core values of "quality, reputation, efficiency, professionalism, and modernity."

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Co also summarized the achievements of the Academy over its 60 years of development. The Academy has produced 500 doctoral graduates, 5,000 master's degree holders, and approximately 140,000 bachelor's degree holders for both Vietnam and neighboring countries like Laos and Cambodia. Many generations of Academy students have held important positions in Party and State leadership, both at the central and local levels, as well as within various enterprises. In recent years, more than 98% of graduates have found employment within one year.

He advised the new students to set clear goals and strive for academic excellence, actively participate in extracurricular activities to enhance their personal development and equip themselves with adaptability and readiness to face changes and challenges. He encouraged them to continue building upon the academy's 60-year tradition of development and growth.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Co also conveyed his message to all faculty members and administrators, urging them to actively support and provide the best and most favorable conditions for the new students.

In 2023, the Academy of Finance continued its admission for the regular undergraduate program Class 61 using five methods: direct admission and bonus points according to the Ministry of Education and Training regulations, admission based on high school excellence, admission based on the 2023 high school graduation exam results, admission combining international English certifications with the 2023 high school graduation exam results, and admission based on the aptitude assessment test of the Hanoi National University and the intellectual assessment of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

The admission counseling and document submission process was flexible and made full use of Industry 4.0 technologies in accordance with the Ministry of Education and Training's new admissions guidelines. The Academy proactively collaborated with Tuoi Tre newspaper to conduct two in-person counseling sessions at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, as well as two in-person sessions in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Hai Phong, and Hai Duong. Additionally, several online admission counseling sessions were organized on the Academy's page platform.

The result was that 3,925 applicants were admitted and enrolled, reaching 98.2% of the enrollment target (3,925 out of 4,000). Among them, 1,060 students joined the high-quality program. Nearly 4,000 applicants surpassed approximately 44,500 other candidates to become new students at the Academy. Among the enrolled students, there were one national prize-winning student, 637 (an increase from 583 in 2022) provincial and city prize-winning students, and 1,628 (an increase from 647 in 2022) students with international English certifications.

The Class 32 Alumni Association has awarded scholarships to the students who received commendations, with a total value of over VND 60 million (including 2 valedictorians and 17 students with outstanding achievements in the IELTS certification). He shared that over the past 60 years, the Academy has solidified its brand and position with significant achievements in all aspects of education, research, international cooperation, infrastructure development, and more. Vietcombank, as a strong and reputable institution with 60 years of development, holds the top position in Vietnam in terms of efficiency, service quality, scale, and contributions to the national economy and the financial sector, as well as social welfare activities.

The signing of the cooperation agreement at this event continues the collaborative efforts that Vietcombank initiated back in October 2018. In addition to awarding scholarships and providing access to modern banking services for students, Vietcombank is committed to supporting the students in their career development through internship programs and career guidance. Mr. Le Hoang Tung encouraged the Class 61 students to carry on the traditions of the Academy and contribute with their youthful enthusiasm to the Academy's ongoing success story.

Ms. Dinh Thi Thuy recounted her own journey as a former student of Class 32, starting as an accounting staff member after graduating with a bachelor's degree from the Academy, and now serving as the CEO of MISA Corporation.

She mentioned that many generations of Academy students have become employees at MISA, with nearly 600 out of 3,000 employees being alumni of the Academy. Many of them hold important positions within the company. Ms. Dinh Thi Thuy pledged to continue supporting Academy students through scholarship programs, career internships, software support, training programs, and accounting materials. She also committed to collaborating with the Academy in its digital transformation efforts to enhance efficiency and effective management.

Her inspiring journey serves as a testament to the opportunities and success that the Academy of Finance can provide to its students, reinforcing the strong connection between the academy and its alumni.

On behalf of nearly 4,000 students of Class 61, Ms. Bui Khanh Ly, from the CQ61/11.06 CLC, shared her joy and pride in becoming a member of the Academy of Vietnam. She also expressed her appreciation for the choice she and her fellow students had made in selecting the Academy.

Through their research and exploration, the students have come to recognize the Academy of Vietnam as a leading university in Vietnam, with a rich history of 60 years of growth and development. They understand its mission, which is to provide high-quality financial and accounting education and conduct research for the betterment of society. They are aware of the significant contributions made by previous generations of graduates who have played vital roles in the country's economic development and have supported neighboring Laos.

The students appreciate the deep and specialized learning environment provided by the Academy, with numerous experiential learning opportunities that equip them with the knowledge and skills needed for their future careers. In recent years, the Financial Academy has also shone in its support of youth and student activities, offering various cultural and artistic events as well as career guidance.

Ms. Bui Khanh Ly, representing all Class 61 students, pledged to be proactive and committed to their studies, personal development, and strong unity. They are dedicated to carrying forward and building upon the traditions of previous generations of Academy students.

Nearly 4,000 new students from Class 61 at the Academy of Finance have officially embarked on a new academic year, carrying with them the spirit and enthusiasm of the Academy's 60-year tradition of growth and development. This marks the beginning of a new four-year journey for the Class 61 students, promising a meaningful voyage filled with beautiful experiences, warm mentor-student relationships, and pure friendships. They are poised to make their mark with significant achievements in their studies and personal growth along the way.
