Faculty of Taxation and Customs - Research Conference on “Policy and Management of Taxation, Customs, Logistics”
On November 22nd, 2021, the Faculty of Taxation and Customs held a research conference on the topic “Policy and Management of Taxation, Customs, and Logistics” in both direct meeting and webinar. This is the second annual conference of the Faculty of Taxation and Customs, and a forum for scientists and managers to publish their research results, exchange and discuss expertise on all theoretical and practical aspects arising in the process of tax administration, customs and logistics management.

 

Attending the seminar, there were representatives of the faculties, functional departments under the Academy of Finance and scientists, regulatory agencies in taxation, customs and logistics sector. On behalf of the Academy of Finance (AOF), there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Thi Thuy, AOF’s Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Than, Faculty Dean of Graduate Studies. On behalf of the scientists, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Ai, former Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Finance and Accounting (now the Academy of Finance); representative of National Institute for Finance, Ministry of Finance. On behalf of the management agencies tax, customs and logistics sector, there were representatives of the Department of  Tax Reform and Modernization (General Department of Taxation); Customs Research Institute, Risk Management Department, Import-Export Tax Department (General Department of Customs). On the side of the businesses and associations, there were representatives from Delta International Co., Ltd., Thai Son Technology Development Co., Ltd., T&M Forwarding Co., Ltd., DTK Logistics Solutions Co., Ltd., and the Vietnam Association of Logistics Service Enterprises (VLA). There were also attendances of the faculties and research fellows of taxation, customs and logistics. Press representatives from Tax Magazine, Finance Magazine, Customs Times and Financial Times.

The conference organizers received 27 articles from faculties and scientists inside and outside the AOF, officials working in the field of customs tax, logistics such as the National Institute Finance, Institute of Economics and Finance, National University, Ministry of Finance, General Department of Taxation, General Department of Customs, Customs Research Institute, etc.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Xuan Truong opened the conference stating the reason and purpose of the researches, which were to exchange and discuss scientific views and arguments on tax, customs and logistics policy and management; on that basis, propose orientations and solutions to improve tax, customs and logistics policies in order to contribute to promoting sustainable socio-economic development.

The conference was divided into 3 sessions under 3 topics: Tax, Customs, Logistics chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoai and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Duy Nguyen.

During the workshop, the delegates and scientists presented multiple discussions, suggestions, and analyses in a frank, profound and scientific manner to target at recognizing theoretical and practical issues on tax, customs and logistics management policies. A number of presentations and comments have mentioned, analyzed and clarified important, long-term and urgent issues in the field of tax, customs and logistics.

The major contents discussed by the workshop included: Orientation to improve the strategy for tax system reform to 2030; Orientation to improve the customs development strategy to 2030; Tax and customs policy and management in terms of digital economy and sharing economy; Digital transformation in tax, customs and logistics management; Developing a smart customs model; Tax administration for e-commerce business; Expanding the tax base and combating tax base erosion; Tax and customs policies to support businesses in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic, etc.

The three-hour seminar on “Policy and Management of Taxation, Customs and Logistics” was successfully closed with multiple research ideas and objectives. The conference was an annual scientific research forum that provides more theories as well as updates on practical knowledge for the faculties of taxation and customs in the AOF and related individual and organizational stakeholders.
