Because of the requirement to renew training programs, change the names of training majors and disciplines so the Faculty of Banking and Insurance is currently training and managing 3 majors: Banking, Financial Insurance and Financial Investment.

1. Establishment and development process

Hanoi University of Finance and Accounting (now the Academy of Finance) trained the Banking major from the second year in 1964. After the graduation of the 14th course students, the Banking Faculty dissolved, interrupted professional training for several time, until the 29th course in 1991, retrained the Banking major. During that time, Banking and Insurance majored in the Faculty of Corporate Finance. By 2002, according to the Prime Minister's decision to establish the Academy of Finance, the Banking and Insurance faculty has re-established, based on separating three subjects:  Banking Operations, Insurance, and Monetary Theory of the Faculty of Corporate Finance. In 2003, the Academy of Finance has opened a Securities Trading Major under the Faculty of Banking and Insurance.

Because of the requirement to renew training programs, change the names of training majors and disciplines so the Faculty of Banking and Insurance is currently training and managing 3 majors: Banking, Financial Insurance and Financial Investment. In the academic year 2015-2016, the number of students enrolled in the majors of the faculty was nearly 2050 students, in which 1635 full-time students, the number of part time, interconnection, second degree was more than 400 students (the number of students ranked 3rd in the Academy of Finance, after the Faculty of Accounting and Corporate Finance).

With 29 official members, including 27 lecturers and two office staffs, Organizational structure consits 3 specialized majors: Banking Operations, Insurance and Financial Investment.

Lecturers of the faculty are high level of professional teachers and passionate with their jobs. Studies materials for Banking Operations, Insurance and Financial Investment have been edited by scientists from inside and outside of the Academy of Finance and teachers of the faculty. They are Standard text book for Lecturers,  students to research science and academics

The Faculty of Insurance Banking has 3 majors as follows

- Banking Major

Training bachelor with in-depth knowledge of finance - currency, banking, knowledge of credit management, capital and asset management of banks; firmly grasp knowledge related to money release operations and monetary policy management, credit limit appraisal process, foreign exchange management operations, and the bank's accounting process; deep knowledge about the State's regulations on banking operations, additional knowledge about law, financial - monetary market, stock market.

Graduates are capable of undertaking professional jobs such as bank accountant, bank credit; financial services jobs at international banks and credit institutions.

- Financial Insurance Major

Equipping students with basic knowledge about socio-economic, finance, banking; getting in-depth knowledge of business insurance, including skills in negotiating, establishing and managing insurance contracts, setting insurance premiums, settling insurance benefits, managing investment funds, organizing the accounting work and making financial statements, evaluating the financial situation and analyzing specific problems in the financial structure in insurance enterprises and insurance brokerage enterprises; specialized technical knowledge, law, state management, finance and accounting, trade in life insurance business, non-life insurance, reinsurance; basic knowledge of social insurance.

Graduates are capable of undertaking the job of management, implementing insurance operations, and operating in insurance business; financial investment, financial supervision; internal audit in insurance enterprises, insurance state management agencies.

- Financial Investment Major

Training bachelor with in-depth knowledge of Financial Investment operations; market analysis and forecasting skills, financial investment skills; firmly grasping knowledge related to the financial market, the risks and ways to manage the risks of investment instruments in the financial market; financial market regulator's management activities; State management activities on financial markets and financial investment; firmly grasping the knowledge related to the accounting process in financial investment; understanding State regulations on financial markets and financial investment, Understanding complementary knowledge of laws related to financial market management and financial investment.

Graduates are capable of undertaking specialized jobs such as: analyzing and valuing financial assets, analyzing and quantifying risks of individual and portfolios; financial investment consulting, investment portfolio management, investment fund management; participating in planning and consulting the implementation of policies on management and supervision of financial markets at securities companies, banks, insurance companies, investment companies, finance companies, and investment funds and Fund management companies, financial consulting firms, State regulators of the financial markets, domestic and foreign financial institutions, and joint stock companies.
