The Faculty of Public Finance, formerly known as the Faculty of Finance and Budget, was established right from the first day of the establishment of the School of Finance - Banking now known as the Academy of Finance, in 1963.

1. Establishment and development process

The Faculty of Public Finance, formerly known as the Faculty of Finance and Budget, was established right from the first day of the establishment of the School of Finance - Banking now known as the Academy of Finance, in 1963.

1965 - 1973: Faculty of Finance and Budget; the training majors included State Budget; State revenue and Taxation; Granting and lending capital for construction investment.

1973 - 1983: Faculty of Finance and Budget; the training majors included State Budget; State budget revenue; Granting and lending capital for capital construction investment; Industrial finance; Agriculture Finance; Trade Finance; Construction Finance.

1983 to 1995: Faculty of Finance and Budget; The training majors included the State budget; State budget revenue; Insurance; State Treasury Management.

1995 - 1998: Faculty of State Finance; The training majors included State Financial Management; State tax; International finance.

1998 - 2002: Faculty of State Finance; The training majors included State Financial Management, State Tax.

From 2002 to present: Faculty of Public Finance; The training majors include Public Finance Management, Financial Policy Analysis, Public Accounting.

2. Functions and missions

Training financial staffs with bachelor degrees in the majors of Public Financial Management, Public Accounting, Financial Policy Analysis and participating in training other majors of the Academy of Finance.

Participating in training master and PhD level in Finance - Banking, Economic Management, Accounting of the Academy of Finance.

Scientific research in the field of Finance - accounting and economics; compile textbooks and materials of subjects of the training majors of the faculty.

3. Staffs and organization structure

Staffs (December 2019): A total of 35 officers; including 34 lecturers and 01 staff officer; 04 Associate Professors, 18 PhDs, 13 Fellow PhDs, 3 Masters.

Faculty of Public Finance has 04 subjects: Department of Finance - Money; Department of Public Finance Management; Department of Financial Policy Analysis; Department of Public Accounting.

5. Achievements

In 1998, the Faculty was awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.

In 2001, the Faculty was awarded the 3rd Class Labor Medal.

For many years, the Faculty has received the title of "Excellent Labor Collective, Ministry of Merit".

6.2. Public Accounting (No 23)

6.2.1. Training objectives

Public accounting aims to train specialized staffs, managers and researchers with a bachelor or higher degree in order to meet the increasingly demand of socio-economic development plans of our country, especially in the public sector.

Graduates of the Public Accounting are equipped with extensive knowledge of both theory and practice, both research and practice in accounting and finance, with a focus on accounting and public finance. .

6.2.2. Career opportunities and prospects

Students can be flexible and proactively adaptable to most areas and career fields in the job market.

1. Graduates of Public Accounting not only have many opportunities in the domestic labor market, but also have many opportunities at the international one, the near future of Public Accountants students are fully capable of becoming one of the core members of research and implementation of the project on Public Accounting Standards and State Accounting General in Vietnam.

2. 6.3. Policy Analysis (No 18)

6.3.1. Training objectives

Having basic, comprehensive and systematic knowledge of Finance-Banking science, social science.

Having sufficient analytical skills and capacities to deal with specialized problems with a high degree of complexity, interdisciplinaryity in financial policy analysis; is able to develop financial strategies and plans in enterprises and analyze the impact of financial policies on subjects in the economy.

Having self-research skills to improve qualifications, meet the quality requirements as well as the increasing demands of the society on human resources in the banking and finance sector and can continue to study at a higher level

6.3.2. Career opportunities and prospects

1. The state sector

At the central level, students can work professionally on policy implementation and analysis at General Departments, Departments, and Research Institutes of relevant ministries and departments such as the Ministry of Finance (General Department of Taxation, General Department of Customs, Treasury), Ministry of Planning and Investment, State Bank, Ministry of Industry and Trade ... as well as other ministries and branches.

At the local level, students can work in units such as the People's Councils, the People's Committees, the Departments of Finance, the Department of Planning and Investment, and the local Departments, Departments and Branches, State administration related to the economic, financial and banking sectors. Students also have the expertise to be able to work in public service providers from the central to local levels.

2. For the corporate sector and non-public institutions: Students majoring in financial policy analysis can do financial analysis and project appraisal, project managers, investment analysts, Financial analysis in the planning, finance, consulting, strategic planning departments of corporations, companies and production and business units in the economy. Specialized students also have many opportunities to work in non-governmental organizations, consulting firms, foreign invested enterprises, banks, credit institutions and securities firms. ...
