II. Establishment and development process

Faculty of International Finance was established by Decision No. 27 / QD - HVTC dated 02/01/2002 of the Director of the Academy of Finance. The establishment of the Faculty in 2002 was the confirmation of the important role of the International Finance major that was previously trained at the University of Finance and Accounting with the name of External finance (Specialization code: 08)

In the early days of its establishment, the Faculty had three subjects: International Finance, International Economics (International Economics, Microeconomics, Marketing) and Statistics and Prediction analysis (predictive analysis Statistics and macroeconomics)

In 2003, the Statistics and Prediction Analysis was transferred to the Faculty of Economic Information Systems, and the Faculty of International Finance were 3 subjects: International Finance, International Economics (International Economics and Marketing) and Economics (Microeconomics and Macroeconomics)

In 2006, the Marketing was transferred to the Faculty of Business Administration, the Faculty of International Finance had: International Finance, International Economics and Economics.

In 2012, the Economics was transferred to the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of International Finance was the International Finance and the International Economics.

In 2013, the International Finance was divided into two subjects, the Faculty of International Finance had 03 subjects: International Finance, International Financial Administration and International Economics.

III. Functions, duties, powers

- Implement training and managing students majoring in International Finance

- Teaching bachelor's programs in the fields of Economics, Finance - Banking, Accounting, Business Administration, Economic Information Systems, English Language. The subjects of the Faculty include:

1. International finance

2. International Finance taught in English

3. Administration of foreign loan and debt

4. International investment management

5. Financial management at multinational companies

6. International payment management

7. International Economy (includes 2 modules 1 and 2)

- Joining the Post-Graduate Training of the Academy of Finance

- Preside and participate in scientific research at all levels, both inside and outside the Academy. Editors and participating in compiling textbooks, reference books, monographs for undergraduate and post- graduate training.

V. Introduction to the Faculty's training majors

The Faculty of International Finance currently has 1 major, specialized in International Finance (specialized code 08).

Training objectives:

- Equipping with in-depth knowledge of the international finance field, firmly grasping operations relating international finance such as international trading (foreign currency trading, securities trading, insurance business ...), international trade, international investment, international payments, international credit, exchange rates; understanding international financial processes and operations, international investment project management, ODA project management, debt management, international accounting, multinational companies' financial management .

- Understanding complementary knowledge of international law, international trade and international economic commitments.

Career opportunities and prospects:

Graduates of International Finance have the ability to undertake professional jobs such as:

- Accounting for domestic and foreign enterprises; Financial management in businesses; financial management in multinational companies; financial management in foreign-invested enterprises; financial management in import-export companies;

- Management of international payments, foreign currency trading, international investment, international finance - credit at commercial banks, insurance companies, securities companies, and funds investment, finance companies,…

- Ability to negotiate, sign and manage the implementation of international business agreements and contracts in ministries and branches such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and the  Vietnam State Bank,…

- Being able to work in management boards of projects using international loans, including ODA concessional loans of ministries, branches and localities; management of the execution of projects with foreign investment capital and foreign elements;

- Ability to work at international cooperation boards of ministries, branches and local foreign affairs departments;

- Ability to work at Tax Departments, General Department of Taxation, Customs Department, General Department of Customs, Department of Corporate Finance, Department of Finance on matters related to international tax cooperation; financial management, tax administration with foreign-invested enterprises and foreign elements;

- Can take on debt management and external finance at central agencies such as: Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Planning and Investment, State Bank of Vietnam, Vietnam Development Bank. line ministries, line agencies, government agencies, the National Assembly and local state management agencies;

- Capable of working as a financial manager at representative agencies of countries and international organizations in Vietnam and Vietnamese representative offices in foreign countries;

- Ability to do teaching, scientific research in professional schools and scientific research institutions, research institutes.

VI. Achievements of the Faculty

The Faculty of International Finance and its Departments, individuals have achieved many achievements, and have been awarded the Third Class Labor Medal, Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister, National Emulation Soldier and many Merit of the Minister of Finance, Ministry of Education and Training:

- The Faculty of International Finance was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister in 2007 and the Third Class Labor Medal in 2011; Merit Minister 2013

- The Department of International Economics was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister in 2004 and the third-class Labor Medal in 2008; Certificate of Merit from the Minister in 2013

- Department of International Finance was awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister in 2005 and 2011 and was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal in 2007.

- Economics Department was awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister in 2006 and awarded the third-class Labor Medal in 2009.

- The International Financial Administration was awarded the Minister's Certificate of Merit in 2014.
